What is your connection to Christ the King School (i.e., parent, alumnus, parishioner)?

I am currently a parent of Jack Fitzpatrick (4th) and Leo (2nd grade).

Why do you want to become a member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board? What do you hope to contribute to the Board and/or School?

I would like to become a member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board because I am very interested in helping assist in school development policies at Christ the King. Since we joined CK this year, we have been so impressed with the school and parish and I hope to contribute to the continued success of Christ the King, as a strong faith community. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate and serve in an advisory role with the pastor, the principal, and other board members.

What skills, talents, knowledge, or other attributes do you possess that you feel contribute to your qualifications to be an effective member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board?

I am very dedicated to the spirit of cooperation and collaboration when working with others. I am also a former special educator, and I am now a faculty member in the College of Education at DePaul University, so I have knowledge about curriculum, expectations, current practices, and other relevant school factors. My experiences have provided several opportunities to participate in School Improvement Processes and School Improvement Plans and my experiences at DePaul helped to provide knowledge about incorporating the Catholic faith and mission into improvements.

Please list any other activities, membership, sponsorships, etc. that you have participated in or are currently participating in on behalf of the Parish or School.

Since joining the Christ the King community this year I have not yet had the opportunity to participate in other activities, but I look forward to participating in activities, memberships, and/or sponsorships in our future time at Christ the King.

What is your connection to Christ the King School (i.e., parent, alumnus, parishioner)?

I am a parent of two students and a parishioner as well.

Why do you want to become a member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board? What do you hope to contribute to the Board and/or School?

As a parishioner and parent, I am very passionate and grateful for the community that the school and church provides for my family. Therefore I want to be a part of nurturing shared goals and effective communication between parents, teachers, and administration.

What skills, talents, knowledge, or other attributes do you possess that you feel contribute to your qualifications to be an effective member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board?

I have been an active member at the church, a room parent for several years, participated in programs like Hands On Art, and recently was a temporary teacher’s aide. Thus, I have a good working knowledge of the school environment from three different perspectives which I believe is important to help facilitate an understanding between the staff and parents.

Please list any other activities, membership, sponsorships, etc. that you have participated in or are currently participating in on behalf of the Parish or School.

I am in charge of the church’s Welcome Committee as well as the Adult Faith Formation Book Club. I also serve on the Adult Faith Formation Committee and Art and Environment Committee. On the school side I am a room parent for both of my children’s classes.

What is your connection to Christ the King School (i.e., parent, alumnus, parishioner)?

I am a parent of three children currently enrolled at Christ the King (in 5th, 6th, 8th grades). This year marks our family's 7th year at CK.

Why do you want to become a member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board? What do you hope to contribute to the Board and/or School?

I am so thankful for the high standard of education that my children are receiving at Chris the King School, and for the supportive and enriching environment that exists at CK thanks to the hard work and energy of Dr. Riordan, Father Larry, the wonderful staff and teachers, the energetic community of parents and the incredible kids that are student body. I would like to become a member of the CK School Advisory Board to help support Dr. Riordan and school operations, and to give back in a small way to show my appreciation.

What skills, talents, knowledge, or other attributes do you possess that you feel contribute to your qualifications to be an effective member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board?

I have served on professional society advisory boards outside of CK, so I am aware that a good board member is one who actively participates during meetings (and often outside of meetings as needed) and contributes ideas to help support the board efforts. Many of the board functions outlined in the by-laws, such as generating reports and preparing and reviewing annual budgets, are tasks I regularly undertake in my job.

Please list any other activities, membership, sponsorships, etc. that you have participated in or are currently participating in on behalf of the Parish or School.

In years past, I have volunteered as a speaker in my children's CK science classes, served as 4th & 5th grade Room Parent, and led kindergarten CK Lego club.

I am an alumnus (1995), parent, and parishioner. I have lived here in the parish a good portion of my life. My husband Gavin and I have three children: Grace (3rd grade), Neil (1st grade) and Lucy (2 years old).

Why do you want to become a member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board? What do you hope to contribute to the Board and/or School?

As a parent I want to support the school with any decision making regarding the learning environment at Christ the King. The school is growing and I want to ensure that it continues to be a great place for every student to learn and thrive. Christ the King is a diverse and wonderful family. I want to make sure all families feel welcomed. I hope to be a member who can be dependable and also a trusted listener. What is your connection to Christ the King School (i.e., parent, alumnus, parishioner)?

I am a current parent at Christ the King. I have 2 daughters that attend CK. Myla is in 5th grade and Laila is in kindergarten. Our oldest daughter Ayanna is a 2020 graduate of CK and currently attends Mother McAuley H.S. Our youngest son Roderique Jr., will become an eagle in 2 years.

Why do you want to become a member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board? What do you hope to contribute to the Board and/or School?

I want to become a member of the Christ the King School Advisory board to ensure that as a team we continue to be responsive and committed to the values, beliefs, missions and priorities of the school and parish. I am committed to discussing important issues and being able to have "uncomfortable conversations" in order to help students and families flourish within the CK community. My goal is to help everyone become invested in doing their part to create a strong, vibrant, healthy school community where our children and families can be productive.

What skills, talents, knowledge, or other attributes do you possess that you feel contribute to your qualifications to be an effective member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board?

As a working mother of four children of various ages, I fully understand the challenges that many moms face. I completely empathize with moms that want to be more active within the school community, but have to prioritize all the daily needs of their family. I find value in all input and I can be the voice for all families whether you have the time to participate or not. I have dedicated my professional life for almost 20 years to public service as a juvenile probation officer, for the last 7 years as a supervisor. I have held several leadership roles within the agency, which serves the second most populated county in the nation. I have positively worked with many youth from across the county of various backgrounds to make a lasting impact on their life. Through numerous advanced trainings both professionally and personally (conversation facilitation, peace circles, girls groups and leadership skills trainings), I can bring those experiences and knowledge to CK to continue to make our school and parish the most dynamic school in the area.

Please list any other activities, membership, sponsorships, etc. that you have participated in or are currently participating in on behalf of the Parish or School.

In the past, I served as a room parent for multiple years, volunteered for the Hands on Art program and served as a member on the culture/climate committee. I attended various field trips, volunteered for the drama club productions and concessions for sports events. I also am an avid cheerleader for the annual 8th grade vs. Teachers volleyball game. My husband Roderique Sr. has been the 8th grade volleyball coach annually for this event for the last 7 years and I support all his efforts.

What is your connection to Christ the King School (i.e., parent, alumnus, parishioner)?

Alumnus, parent and parishioner

Why do you want to become a member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board? What do you hope to contribute to the Board and/or School?

I would like to become a member of the CK SAB because I am very much invested in our community, church and school and want to see it continue to thrive and grow. As an alumnus of the school, and one of the special few that gets to live and raise my family in the house I grew up in, I absolutely love that our children get to have a childhood nearly identical to the one I had, with the school and church adding so many foundational memories and life-long friendships. Also, as one of the first bi-racial families to move into the neighborhood back in the 70's, I believe I have an interesting perspective on how to more effectively integrate families that are new to the neighborhood and parish. I hope to contribute a unique, diverse perspective to the SAB.

What skills, talents, knowledge, or other attributes do you possess that you feel contribute to your qualifications to be an effective member of the Christ the King School Advisory Board?

I have an undergraduate degree in business and masters in law. I worked as a business consultant for Accenture before law school and have practiced corporate law for over 10 years now with Latham & Watkins. I spent an additional three years as an in-house lawyer for ESPN in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and roughly one year in house as Associate General Counsel for VEON in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Our family has live abroad for many years and two of our children were born in Argentina! Our kids attended a catholic bi-lingual school while living in Argentina and attended an international school while in Amsterdam. I believe my business and legal background as well as my diverse up-bringing and exposure to different cultures will all help me successfully contribute, while providing an interesting perspective, to the SAB.

Please list any other activities, membership, sponsorships, etc. that you have participated in or are currently participating in on behalf of the Parish or School.

I have coached my daughter's fourth grade volleyball team and volunteered to help supervise kindergarten lunchtime and recess. I have been a room parent and a very experienced organizer and participant of the CK carpools! I have also participated in a scripture group during lent through the church.
