Christ the King School - Elementary

Christ the King School prides itself on the strong community ties that continue to bring our alumni back to CK to live and raise their children.  Through the elementary years, Christ the King provides a rich, faith-centered education for children through 8th grade.  Our teachers use rigorous standards-based curriculum that is accredited by the Archdiocese of Chicago and the state of Illinois (https://schools.archchicago.org/curriculum-standards).  We employ cross-curricular techniques, thematically connecting lessons from subject to subject.  Technology compliments the curriculum at all grades and prepares our students for their next level of education.  While strong academic performance is emphasized, equally valued is the spiritual, social, physical and moral development of each child.

At the primary level (K-2nd grades)

Students continue to develop a strong foundation of cognitive skill and spiritual integrity.  With an emphasis on Reading, Language Arts, Phonics, Math and Writing, our primary teachers strive to strengthen core skills that best prepare our students for the intermediate grade levels.

During the intermediate years (3rd-5th grades)

Students continue to build and strengthen skill sets.  Additionally, students are exposed to higher level writing and problem-solving skills.  Independence is fostered as students are able to connect their lessons to real-world applications.

Religion is the core of our value system and an integral part of our learning.  Students in all grades learn scripture and Catholic tradition. Students in Junior High have a dedicated Religion teacher that classes see every day. Preparation for sacraments and learning how to be of service to others are among the many areas covered in our curriculum.
